Life Enhancing Mobility Aids

As parents watching our children develop and take their first steps is an amazing part of being a parent. However, watching our own parents decline and lose their mobility and independence is one of the most concerning.

Most people in this situation don’t know where to begin and what products are out there to aid someone who’s mobility is deteriorating. It’s a daunting prospect that is often met with resistance to accept that mobility products are now a necessity.

Stigma Associated with Mobility Aids

Many people who would benefit greatly from using mobility aids do not or will not use them. Studies show that attitudes and beliefs strongly affect the decision to use mobility aids. For many in this situation they associated the use of mobility aids with the negative views society has placed on aging or being viewed as ‘sick’ or even as ‘dying’. It is these perceived attitudes that deter many people from using mobility aids.

Changing Attitudes

“I’ve always been very independent, make my decisions, do what I want…I’ve been doing it on my own now for quite some time. So I just feel it’s also a dependency thing in that I’d rather depend on something I can control and I can do anytime I want to do it as opposed to depending on, relying on somebody else to supply me with that security.”

Just How Life Enhancing Are Mobility Aids?

While simply getting from point A to point B may be the most basic purpose of mobility aids they can actually improve the quality of a person’s life. Mobility aids can also help someone to be as active as possible and to take part in lots of activities that enhance and enrich daily living.

As we age, our balance can often become compromised, leading to slips, trips and falls. A fall for an elderly person can have much greater complications and they are more susceptible to breaks, which take longer to heal.

A fall can also impact negatively on an older person’s confidence meaning that they then are reluctant to maintain their mobility which further complicates the situation.

If you are worried about a loved one’s mobility issues or perhaps they have already had a fall then there are a range of mobility aids available that will help enhance their life by helping to maintain mobility and retain independence.

Whether you prefer a tri-walker or rollator, scooter or wheelchair or perhaps a stairlift, our products are designed to enhance daily living. With the use of mobility aids it possible to walk further, get around for longer and with less fatigue or pain.

Whatever product you choose, your level of independence will soar.
